Crafting with embossing foil is totally on trend, and for good reason: the technique is simple, offers many possibilities, and simply looks great!

Here I show you how to create with embossing foil, what materials and tools you need, and I have tips for you on how to decorate and repurpose your embossed motifs.

This article is aimed at beginners. However, even the pros among you might find some inspiration.

Basics

Embossing Tools:
Embossing tools have small balls of different sizes as tips. This allows you to emboss thicker and thinner lines. Larger balls are suitable for embossing surfaces. An embossing tool can also be pointed. You can use it to punch holes in your design - for decoration or for tags.

Furthermore

To assemble different motifs or to glue an embossed artwork onto paper, you can work with various types of adhesive (see also below):

> Liquid adhesive (preferably with a fine tip)

> Glue stick

Instructions

1. If you are using a template, cut it out roughly. This way, you can efficiently place it on your embossing foil.
Affix the template to the embossing foil with some Washi tape so that it doesn't slip.

2. Now trace the lines of your template with the embossing tool. Alternatively, you can use a ballpoint pen, so you can see which lines you have already embossed.
I prefer to use the finest tip of the embossing tool for this and only work roughly to transfer the motif.

3. Remove your template.

4. Cut out your design. I first roughly cut out the design and only later precisely.

5. Embellish your design by embossing different patterns and shapes with your various embossing tools.

Work from both sides to enhance the three-dimensional effect.

5. Finally, cut out the motif.

You can use it as an ornament for an Easter bouquet or Christmas tree. You can also use it to create cards, bookmarks, and gift tags. Particularly beautiful embossed foil works are framed and hung.
