Upcycling Pop-up Weihnachtskarte

An old egg carton can be transformed into a fantastic pop-up card with a Christmas tree in no time! This craft idea is not only sustainable, but also super easy and lots of fun – perfect for giving as a gift or decorating.
In this step-by-step guide, I'll show you how to create a very special Christmas card with just a few materials and a little creativity.

What you need*
Eierkarton

Egg carton

Folding card

Scissors

Double-sided tape

Paint - I use Acrylic paints from Marabu [Affiliate Link*]

Decorative materials as desired

Instructions
Ausgeschnittene Spitze eines Eierkartons

Cut one of the points from the egg carton.
Flachgedrückte Spitze eines Eierkartons

Flatten the cut-out cone.

Cut two small, thick (approx. 1 x 3 cm) strips from a flat part of the egg carton.
Auf Streifen geklebtes Doppelkelbeband, Streifen zur Hälfte gefaltet

Adhere double-sided tape to both strips.

Fold the taped strips in the middle, with the double-sided tape facing outwards.

Now glue the two strips halfway into the cone. They should be opposite each other and centered on the two flattened sides of the cone.

Place the pop-up card unfolded in front of you. Glue the cone centrally into the card. You can either place the cone, folded inwards with the adhesive strips, centrally onto the card, close the card, and press firmly. Or you can lay the cone flat into the card as shown and close the card.

The adhesive strips will stick to the right and left at a 90° angle to the fold.

If you unfold the card now, your Christmas tree will pop up.

Decorate your tree and card as you like. Of course, you can also decorate the egg carton cone before gluing it on.
